About Kelly
Kelly graduated from Northumbria University with a first class honours degree in Law. She joined McDaniels Law in 2008 as a Trainee Solicitor and remained with the firm following qualification. In July 2015 Kelly dual qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney, further expanding her IP expertise. She is also able to assist clients with issues relating to commercial contracts and agreements, and often prepares such documents for clients.
She is now a Director specialising in Intellectual Property and is responsible for the overall management of the firm, taking over the business in 2023.
Kelly has experience across a range of IP matters, particularly in Trade Mark, Copyright and Design matters. This work includes both dealing with protection strategies and also enforcement and litigation matters having conducted cases on clients’ behalf in the Court of Appeal, High Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court. Kelly has significant experience in Trade Mark matters including filing and prosecution of UK, CTM, foreign and Madrid trade mark applications, trade mark opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Kelly has a good commercial focus and is able to identify and assist in meeting clients’ actual business needs. This enables her to give structured legal advice with a clear commercial focus.
What are the values that drive you or /and what do you enjoy about the work you do?
I enjoy working closely with clients to gain insight and understanding of their business. I am also driven by achieving the best results for clients in what is a complicated area of law.
I particularly enjoy litigation and case strategy as well as working with long term clients on their various issues as we get to assist the business in its growth and development.
